El trovador cubano Silvio Rodríguez se ha dirigido al presidente de Google. Así lo publica en su blog Segunda cita el relevante artista:
“Mensaje al presidente de Google”
Mi amigo el Dr Ricardo Seir, quien ayer me animara a dirigirme a la cumbre de Internet que se celebraba en Estados Unidos, dándome aún más ánimos escribió después:
“Una de mis pacientes trabaja en Google. Has una peticion […] y yo se la hago llegar a ella con la intencion que se la mande al jefe mayor (que no se si estaba o no en la reunion con Obama, pero supongo que si). Que te parece?”
A lo que respondí:
“La propuesta es sencilla: el mundo está muy disparejo y se podría evitar mucho dolor con una acción que contribuyera a un salto cualitativo global: un cinturón de satélites que proporcione Internet al tercer mundo. Estoy seguro de que es algo que está al alcance de esos cerebros (y bolsillos) privilegiados.”
Esta es la carta que el Dr Seir ha escrito a su amiga que trabaja en Google. Más abajo aparece la traducción.

Silvio Rodriguez is one of the most influential singer-songwriters in the Spanish speaking world. He has inspired 3 generations of people for more than 40 years, with his social influenced lyrics, his high standard poetry writing and his beautiful music. He is praised by Nobel Prize winners, Heads of States and many influential people in the world. Many artists consider him an inspiration for their careers and others have recorded his songs.
He lives in Cuba. He was recently performing in the US after he was given a Visa that was negated to him for many, many years. (I believe more than 30)
I met Silvio about 16 years a go and we have became friends. He has a blog, and we were discussing the recent meeting that president Obama had with the people who has influenced the Internet and the technology world. I believe one of your bosses, Mr. Schmidt was in that meeting.
I asked the hypothetical question that if Silvio was in that meeting what he would have asked (remember again, he lives in Cuba). He said that he would say something like this:
“The world is in complete disparity and a lot of pain could be avoided with actions that could contribute to a quality global jump: A belt of satellites that would give Internet to the “Third World”. He added that something like this could be achievable because he considers them very intelligent people (and because of their deep pockets)”
Some people in the blog immediately said that he would be received with a kick in his butt. I said that I believed (and guarantied) that he would be listen to, because the people at that meeting are very like him, including president Obama (with their difference in their political views): They are high achievers and that nothing would stop them on working of what they really believe, and in their dreams.
I also said that I would try to help him in sending his message (since it was my idea to ask the question about the hypothetical meeting). Is there any way to forward this letter to Mr. Schmidt or Mr. Page?

Silvio Rodríguez es uno de los más influyentes escritores de canciones en el mundo de habla hispana. El ha inspirado a 3 generaciones de personas por más de 40 años con sus letras socialmente comprometidas, su alto standard poético y su bella música. Ha sido alabado por varios personajes que han ganado premios Nóbel, Cabezas de Estado y mucha gente influyente en el mundo. Muchos artistas lo consideran una inspiración en sus carreras y otros han grabado sus canciones. El vive en Cuba y recientemente le fue otorgada una visa para cantar en los Estados Unidos, que había sido negada por muchos años (creo que mas de 30).
Conocí a Silvio hace 16 años y nos hemos hecho amigos. El tiene un blog, en el que hemos estado discutiendo el reciente encuentro del Presidente Obama con los personajes más influyentes en el mundo de la tecnología y el Internet. Creo que uno de tus jefes, Eric Schmidt estuvo en este encuentro.
Yo pregunte hipotéticamente que si le hubiesen dado un derecho de palabra en ese encuentro, que hubiese dicho (recuerda que el vive en Cuba). Su planteamiento es el siguiente:

Algunas personas en el blog saltaron inmediatamente y dijeron que el seria recibido con una patada en el trasero. Yo dije que yo creía (y garantizaba) de que seria escuchado, porque las personas asistentes a ese encuentro eran muy parecidas a el incluyendo al presidente Obama (salvando las diferencias políticas): personas que han alcanzado grandes cosas y que nunca podían ser detenidos en sus sueños.
También dije que trataría en ayudarlo a enviar el mensaje (porque fue mi idea la de la pregunta hipotética). Hay alguna manera de hacerle llegar esta carta al Sr. Schmidt o al Sr. Page?
